SOLAR PROJECT UPDATE (March 24, 2020)
The KPHA Solar Committee worked diligently and persistently to assure the best possible solar contract negotiations between KPHA and Neighborhood Power.  Many meetings, conference calls and discussions took place and the committee was able to negotiate a cost-effective contract that will allow beneficial savings for KPHA for years to come.  With final contract offers on the table, the Board of Directors voted unanimously to accept all three contracts; The Community-Based Renewable Energy (CBRE) Solar Project, the Net Energy Metering (NEM) program for Well One and the Net Energy Metering (NEM) program for the office.  the clubhouse solar panels have been installed and we are waiting for Maui County to send their team to install the meter and turn the system on.  The Deep Well I project is the next install to take place sometime this summer (all installs have been affected by the corona virus pandemic).  The CBRE is still in the Impact Reserve Study phase.  We would like to thank the members of the committee for their time, energy and efforts:  Yvonne Everhart, Dick Glenn, Gladys Skinner, Tom Witte and Chuck Everhart.  You were a dedicated team instrumental in allowing solar energy for KPHA to come to fruition after so many years, so thank you all once again.

SOLAR PROJECT UPDATE (Aug 2018)
MECO has awarded Kawela Plantation's Solar Project 250kWs of capacity in the first phase of their Community solar pilot project which is calld CBRE (Community Based Renewable Energy). At present, Neighborhood Power and KPHA are looking for the most cost effective location for the build close to the MECO grid.
